Brick Calculator – Estimate Bricks & Mortar
Quality Inspector

Calculate the total number of bricks, bags of cement, and cubic metres of sand required for a wall of given dimensions.
📐 Formula & Method
Volume of one brick with mortar (10mm gap) is calculated. Total wall volume is divided by this to get the brick count. 30% of wall volume is assumed as mortar to find cement and sand.
Bricks = Wall Volume / (Brick Vol with Mortar)
Mortar Vol = Wall Vol × 0.30
📋 Worked Example
For 5m × 3m wall (230mm thick) using 190x90x90 bricks: • Wall Vol = 3.45 m³ • Bricks ≈ 1725 nos • Cement ≈ 8.5 bags (at 1:6 ratio)
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
The modular brick size is 190mm × 90mm × 90mm. Traditional bricks are often 230mm × 115mm × 75mm.
This calculator gives net quantities. It is recommended to add 5-10% extra for breakage and wastage.
