Rebar Detailing Calculator (Cutting Length, Stirrups & Hooks)
Expert Guide

Get millimetre-perfect cutting lengths for reinforcement bars and stirrups.

⚡ Quick Answer
Cutting length must always subtract concrete cover and bend deductions. A 4m beam with 25mm cover and 9d hooks needs a 4.16m cut piece.
🛠️ How It Works
Straight Bar Cutting = L - 2(Cover) + 2(Hooks). Stirrup Cutting = 2(a+b) + 24d. Bend deductions are applied automatically.
- Select whether you are calculating a main bar or a stirrup (ring).
- The tool automatically adds hook lengths and subtracts bend deductions.
📐 Calculation Formula
Cutting Length = L - 2(Cover) + Hooks - Bends
❓ Frequently Asked Questions
Standard code (IS 2502) specifies a hook length of 10d to 12d. For a 135-degree hook, we use 12d.
We subtract 2d for 90-degree bends and 3d for 135-degree bends to account for steel elongation.
